When Saigon-born Lieu Nguyet Lan first started singing her repertory consisted primarily of modern Vietnamese songs. Yet after studying voice at a private music school in Saigon, and later under the guidance of husband Pham Duc Thanh, she started to concentrate on more traditional material. With her beautifully crystalline voice so expressive and full of emotion, Nguyet Lan has evolved into an extraordinary vocalist of traditional Vietnamese songs.
