Liu Tian-Hua
February 4, 1885
Liu Tian-Hua was born in Jiang Su Province, People's Republic of China. At an early age he played various brass instruments.
1915
He bought an erhu at a local market and began to practice everyday traditional erhu music and soon began to compose for the erhu.
1918
Liu Tian-Hua started to compose "Moonlit Night".
1922
He moved to Peking to teach music at the University of Peking.
1923
He bought a violin and started to learn western musical theory.
1924
"Moonlit Night" was completed and performed publicly for the first time.
1927
Liu Tian-Hua became an editor of a music magazine.
1928
"Night Song" was completed.
1931
His music was recorded for the first time.
1932
Liu Tian-Hua composed "The Flickering of the Candle Flame.". On the June 8th of that year Liu Tian-Hua died of scarlet fever.
