Pjotr Leschenko is the "King of Russian Tango". From the 1930s up to the 1950s no other Russian emigrant singer can be compared to him in terms of his popularity. Through not a single recording of his music was officially released in his own country. His records had to be smuggled back to Russia where they were often bootlegged. His songs were then listened to in secret. He became a legend for his tangos and gypsy romances. Original 1935 recordings re-mastered with utmost care.
